  16. I still fail to see where it dithers. gif.datatype dithers,
  17. jfif.datatype dithers, but picture.datatype just allocates
  18. colors. This _is_ a problem if you need more colors than
  19. are available and it is especially ugly when the image is
  20. dithered and the color allocation choses the wrong colors.
  21. A simple strategy that sorts the colormap would minimize
  22. the ugliness though.

  24. A real solution of course would be a dither option in
  25. picture.datatype (and the removal of dithering in the subclasses).
